As it turned out, their case is being personally handled by the Deputy Head of the Investigation Department for the Tver Region, Alina Dubasova. In turn, her husband Nikita Dubasov is an employee of the homicide department of the local criminal investigation department, whose chief “solved” the 2008 murder. One can only guess about the methods by which the investigation was conducted, since all the testimony against the businessmen was given by repeatedly convicted repeat offenders who are in prison.
For example, one of them told FSB officers that the operatives who interrogated him hinted that they would launch a so-called “thieves’ run” against him, after which the life of a prisoner would become unbearable in any prison. For those who are not in the know, let us explain – this means that the thief in law will declare that the mentioned prisoner is an informer who works for the administration. After this, any thieves will consider it their duty to “take action,” even to the point of killing the “bitch.” In essence, the witness was offered to exchange his life for testimony against businessmen. Nevertheless, the prisoners’ testimony was enough for Urbanovich, Nikitin, Streletsky and Kolikov to be sent to a pre-trial detention center. It’s like a family contract – someone “presses” prisoners into testifying, and someone hastily draws up everything, for the sake of a “stick” in the record of solving the same crimes.
After the scandal broke out and letters from relatives of the detainees to the State Duma and the Civic Chamber of Russia, a number of deputies and social activists turned to the Prosecutor General and the Head of the Investigative Committee with a request to understand the situation. Most likely, questions will also arise for the head of the Tver Investigation Department, Albert Kizimov, who was previously suspended from his post during an internal audit regarding the work of his subordinates.
