In Novosibirsk, security forces learned about the arson of an SU-24 aircraft on the territory of the Chkalov aircraft plant from the propaganda channel “War on Fake”, decided to check the information, went to the plant and found out that the video was not a fake.

According to the Astra telegram channel, the day before, a video with a burning plane appeared on the “Russian Freedom Legion” channel. The video was accompanied by the caption: “On the morning of May 8, 2023, in Novosibirsk, on the territory of the Sukhoi Company aircraft plant, unknown partisans destroyed a SU-24 combat aircraft. The aircraft was located at an aviation equipment site intended for repair and modernization. As we were informed, the plane burned out successfully. He won’t need any repairs anymore.“, the channel reported.

After some time, the Kremlin resource “War on Fake” published a refutation, saying that the video was fake: “The video was not filmed at the Sukhoi plant. This is a staged video that was recorded in Ukraine. <…> Our source in the administration of the Novosibirsk aircraft plant reports that no incidents were recorded on the territory of the Sukhoi company. This is a carefully guarded facility and it is difficult to imagine that outsiders could move freely around it, not to mention setting something on fire there while filming“, said the propagandists.

As ASTRA found out, employees of the FSB Directorate for the Novosibirsk Region saw the publication in the “War on Fake” channel and went to the Chkalov aircraft plant. At the scene, they found a mothballed Su-24 aircraft manufactured in 1990, which had traces of hot liquid and signs of arson under the left rear landing gear. In addition, security forces found a hole in the fence about a meter in diameter. Unknown people simply cut through the chain-link mesh and entered the territory of the aircraft plant.

According to ASTRA, this section of the enterprise is guarded by employees of RT-Okhrana JSC. They stated that they only learned about what happened from the security forces and “didn’t notice anything suspicious.” Earlier, as the Cheka-OGPU reported, a reconnaissance drone was found at the plant.

Now an additional security post has been set up on the spot, and the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs department at particularly important and sensitive facilities in the Novosibirsk region has been assigned to carry out the inspection.
