The Federal Prosecutor’s Office of Germany yesterday (August 10, 2021) on the basis of an arrest warrant of the investigative judge of the Federal Court of August 4, 2021, arrested British citizen David S.
He was arrested in Potsdam by employees of the Federal Criminal Police Department, who was entrusted with the investigation. In addition, searches were carried out in the house and at the work of the accused.
The accused is suspected that he began to work for a foreign secret service no later than November 2020.
The following facts are charged in the arrest order to the accused:
Before his arrest, David S. worked as a local employee at the British Embassy in Berlin. At least once he sent documents received during his professional activity, a representative of Russian intelligence. In exchange for the provision of information, the accused received cash.
Arrest is the result of a joint investigation of the authorities of Germany and the UK.
The accused will be delivered to the investigative judge of the federal court today (August 11, 2021), who will decide on the application of the preliminary conclusion.
