In the cyberspace, the infrastructure, “producing” future terrorists, propagandists enjoy the alarms of people amid the spread of coronavius, said the director of the FSB of Russia Alexander Bortnikov, speaking on Wednesday at the opening of the IX Moscow Conference on International Security. In particular, according to him, terrorists create computer games that include users in the game situations of attacks.

“Almost widespread isolation led to an accelerated increase in the scale of Internet communication between people. At the same time, crisis phenomena that have aggravated during the pandemic, the fears of citizens for their health and, in general, the uncertainty of the future significantly increased the anxiety and social tension in societies of different countries. This is actively used by Internet propagandists of terrorism and extremism, aggressively working both with poorly protected layers of the population and with middle-class representatives, whose financial situation has worsened in the last year … In fact, an entire infrastructure has unfolded in the global network, “producing” “future terrorists,” he said.

“In a special risk group (falling under the influence of terrorists) youth, the psychological processing of which is conducted on social networks and in game chats of popular multiplayer computer games,” Bortnikov said.

“Moreover, Islamist groups have already reached the level of creating their own clones of such games that allow you to influence the consciousness of potential supporters of terrorism and extremism not only through voice communication, but also by including the user in the game situations of the attacks,” the FSB director emphasized.
