On Tuesday, President Trump’s first full day in office, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested 308 undocumented migrants in the U.S., including some accused of severe crimes like murder and child rape, according to border czar Tom Homan.
Border Czar Tom Homan told Fox News: “In the last 24 hours, ICE arrested over 308 serious criminals. Some of them were murderers. Some of them were rapists. Some of them raped a child.”
Homan stated on Wednesday that ICE has initiated efforts to apprehend illegal migrants considered threats to “public safety,” estimating that approximately 700,000 such individuals are present in the country.
“ICE is doing their job,” Homan said.
Appointed shortly after Trump’s election victory in November, Homan has committed to swift action. Since his appointment, he has been outlining the strategies behind the mass deportation initiatives Trump promised during his campaign.
The first priority, according to Homan, is to target individuals who have committed additional criminal acts beyond crossing the border illegally. This includes those currently in jail awaiting charges or individuals with active detainers for their arrest.
