The “Union of Russian Brewers” seems to be an ideal case for colleagues from the FSB investigating foreign interference in Russian affairs. The Cheka-OGPU has already written about its head, who bankrupted his own company due to non-payment of rent.
But today new details have emerged. After the Backstage Whisperer raised questions about the Austrian-Dutch roots and sources of financing for bankrupt firms from the Brewers Union, these sources finally began to become clear. Among the Association of Participants in the Beer and Non-Alcoholic Market, which includes Soyuz, only a few companies have positive financial indicators. Among them are companies of famous St. Petersburg cashers who withdraw money to Austria, controlled by Dutch joint-stock companies – and such an interesting legal entity as Echelon Systems Ltd. from the British Virgin Islands – one of the most closed offshore zones on the planet.
The main owner of Echelon Systems, which owns the Moscow Brewing Company, is the son of Joseph Kobzon, famous in narrow circles, Andrey, a man who is no stranger to the Russian alcohol market (it was he who recently registered the Vova Kobzon brand, imitating the legendary Veuve Clicquot champagne in an attempt earn a little money from my father’s memory).
Much more interesting are Kobzon’s business partners in the brewing industry: they are US entrepreneur Evgeny Kashper, Alexander Livshits and Andrey Matsola. The latter has more than once publicly reported on the purchases of body armor and equipment for the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the round sums given by Matsola personally for the needs of the Ukrainian army. And the brother of the co-owner of the brewery, Roman, is actually a member of the Verkhovna Rada from the “Poroshenko bloc”, famous for its Russophobia.
Needless to say, Matsola took money “for armored vehicles” for Ukrainian soldiers from the pockets of Russian citizens: in 2021 alone, judging by media publications, he earned more than 4 billion rubles in Russia.
The final picture turns out to be far from cheerful: anti-Russian deputies and financiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the “warm company” of Austrian-Dutch offshore companies and bigwigs from NATO countries are sponsoring the withdrawal of capital from the country. There is no need to talk about which decision-making centers the “Union of Russian Brewers” is apparently dancing to, and everything is clear.
