Have you ever transported a Rubens painting? But some investigators had to. And not at all out of duty. We are talking about an investigator from the Magnitsky list, Pavel Karpov, an accomplice of the shadow financier Dmitry Klyuev. At one time, the UK imposed sanctions against Karpov and Klyuev.

Karpov played a key role in the theft of 5.4 billion rubles paid by Browder’s structures in the form of VAT. And the organizer of the scheme was Klyuev. Karpov personally led the criminal case, with the help of which the documentation that was used to steal 5.4 billion rubles from the Russian state was seized and handed over to him by Lieutenant Colonel Artem Kuznetsov (who was also subject to sanctions).

We have at our disposal an interesting letter. One day Karpov decided to sue the journalists who exposed him in Europe. To help Karpov, Klyuev and his partner Artem Zuev provided their lawyer Andrei Pavlov.

The latter tried to find an explanation for Karpov’s wealth and sent his version of the explanation for approval in a letter. Karpov responds by making his remarks in a different font. From them we learn that the modest investigator was transporting a Rubens painting for a private collection and lives in an apartment worth $1.5 million.
