The 48-year-old suspect, who is from Georgia, was detained at the airport in Thessaloniki on Monday, January 10, at the request of Interpol.
An arrested resident of Greece may be involved in the murder of Solonik’s mistress, finalist of the Miss Russia 1996 contest Svetlana Kotova, who died along with the crime boss.
According to the publication, the Greek prosecutor’s office issued a warrant for his arrest back in 2005 on suspicion of involvement in two murders.
His name is Joachim Karsliadis.
According to the official version, Solonik was killed in a villa in Greece in 1997 by a group of killers led by Alexander Pustovalov, nicknamed Sasha Soldier, ordered by the Orekhovskaya organized crime group. They were caught and convicted of murder in 2005 and 2006.
Alexander Solonik became a real legend of the criminal world of the 90s. After finishing his work in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, he got a job as a gravedigger at a cemetery, where he met the future leaders of the Kurgan organized crime group. He received his nickname Macedonian because, according to some sources, he could shoot with both hands – in the Macedonian way. He was the first to escape from the Matrosskaya Tishina pre-trial detention center. Solonik has more than twenty murdered crime bosses to his credit.
