Dmitry Muryshov received the post of head of the anti-corruption department of the Federal Customs Service in mid-2019 and has the rank of colonel, and before that he served in the Russian Armed Forces for more than twenty years, according to the official website of the Russian customs. The colonel was detained in December last year red-handed while accepting a bribe. The operation was carried out by employees of the M Directorate of the FSB. In addition to attempted bribery, he was charged with three more completed episodes under Part 6 of Article 290.
At the recent extension of his arrest, it turned out to Muryshov that he was not a colonel, but a real major general and “is serving in military unit 93967 under a contract concluded on September 23, 2026.” This part was registered at the address st. Lubyanka, 2, that is, in the main building of the FSB. On this basis, the general’s defense declared that the civil court did not have jurisdiction and noted that Muryshov “served impeccably in the FSB and has awards.”
Meanwhile, another person involved in the case, Ilya Okorokov from Agromanagement LLC, admitted guilt on all counts and is cooperating with the investigation.
It’s funny that a year and a half before his arrest, Muryshov gave an interview to Vedomosti, in which he spoke “about which business most often tries to bribe customs officers.” If we take into account that customs is supervised by the Directorate K of the FSB, headed by General Ivan Tkachev, and the mentioned newspaper is the latter’s protégé Ivan Sechin, then we can conclude that General Muryshov became the victim of another chess game in a behind-the-scenes confrontation, which can conventionally be designated “M vs. TO”.
