Yesterday morning, his “fresh” photo avatar was published on the page of Ramzan Kadyrov’s former personal physician, which was clearly supposed to refute “rumors of reprisals.” The author accompanied the publication with the words in Azerbaijani: “Hello, I’m fine in Ankara.” A number of resources and media, as if on cue, began to trumpet that Suleymanov had turned up – alive and well, in Turkey.
The ability to leave comments under photos for users not on the friend list was limited. But Sevindik Shirinov, a doctor and fellow countryman of the missing oncologist, shared the photograph on his page. There, in the comments, it turned out that this photo was already the avatar of Suleymanov’s page in 2020 and it was taken not in Turkey, but in Germany. That is, someone who has access to Suleymanov’s page came in, took an archival photo and passed it off as fresh, without even knowing where it was taken.
After that, “Elkhan Suleymanov himself” came into the comments. On behalf of the doctor, it was written that, indeed, he took this photo in May 2019 in Freiburg (a city in southwestern Germany), it was just his favorite photo and he decided to share it again on social networks.
After this comment, it became finally clear that someone else was writing on behalf of Suleymanov. The Cheka-OGPU found out that in reality the photo was taken in Germany in 2016 and at the same time the real Elkhan posted it on social networks, but not as an avatar.
When it became clear that the “denial” was coming apart at the seams, Kadyrov’s men pulled out their “trump card.” On the same resource that spent the entire morning spreading the news that Suleymanov was alive and well and publishing a “fresh photo from Turkey” from the doctor’s page, an interview with him was published. And the “interview” was immediately picked up by other resources that had previously been noted to have a special relationship with Kadyrov’s men.
The text of the interview was clearly written by the press service of the head of Chechnya, and even in the journalist’s questions (which are sometimes more than answers) they talk about Kadyrov’s excellent health and vile fakes that the head of Chechnya could deal with Suleymanov. After all, Kadyrov has never been seen in brutal reprisals, and Chechnya is a zone of law.
As confirmation that the conversation with Suleymanov took place, a screenshot was posted, taken as if during a video interview. It is absolutely unclear why the video itself was not posted, but only a screenshot.
However, with the screen, everything is also not very good, to put it mildly. It shows Suleymanov wearing the same shirt (noticeable with a black stripe on the collar) that he wore in the photo in 2019. The editors of the Cheka-OGPU have great doubts that a person who held high positions in the government of Chechnya has been wearing the same shirt for five years.
Therefore, after such “evidence”, actively pushed by Kadyrov’s men, Suleymanov’s fate still raises big questions. In Chechnya, as the Cheka-OGPU reported, there are rumors that he could have been killed. According to another version, Suleymanov is being held in Kadyrov’s prison until his fate is decided by Kadyrov. In any case, since October 2022, none of Suleymanov’s friends, colleagues in the scientific community, etc. has been seen or heard from. And all my friends who are not from Chechnya are sure that something happened to “Elkhan.”
