Former municipal deputy from United Russia, major Alexander Bortnikov, who ruined his and his father’s political career (United Russia member Igor Bortnikov refused to participate in elections to the Yaroslavl City Duma after his son’s arrest), admitted to illegally manufacturing drugs on a particularly large scale and possessing drug precursors. Along with daddy’s boy, two other young guys are involved in the case.
The FSB detained the organizers of the drug laboratory in January. During operational search activities, security forces seized over 112 kg of drug precursors from a country house in the Gavrilov-Yamsky district of the Yaroslavl region, where a drug laboratory was located. Since September last year, “young chemists” have produced more than 15 kg of drugs for subsequent resale.
For creating a drug laboratory, Bortnikov and his “colleagues” face a life sentence; today the first hearing in the criminal case was held in the Yaroslavl Regional Court. Given the defendants’ admission of guilt, the court will most likely show them leniency. The verdict in the criminal case will most likely be rendered before the New Year.
