Former head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service for the Leningrad region Alexander Pleteshkov in the region …

The former head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service for the Leningrad Region, Alexander Pleteshkov, is a well-known figure in the region. He headed the regional antimonopoly agency from 2014 to 2021. This time was a golden age for corrupt contractors – there was a well-functioning scheme for distributing government orders in the Leningrad region. All relatively large purchases (over 30 million rubles) were carried out only through the regional State Order Committee. The successive chairmen of this committee, but all close to Governor Drozdenko: Andrei Klementyev, Andrei Nizovsky, Denis Tolstykh, ensured winnings only for specific contractors for any purchase. It is clear that the dissatisfied turned to the Federal Antimonopoly Service and there they ran into Pleteshkov, who was included in this scheme. As local businessmen say, the antimonopoly agency of the Leningrad region did not interfere even in egregious cases.

When Pleteshkov left his post, everyone involved wondered about his imminent appointment to another government position. Few doubted that the promotion would take place. After all, Alexander is very close to the family of the co-owner of the Linos gas station chain, billionaire Vladimir Gurevich. And so, a year and a half later, the appointment took place – colleagues reported that Alexander Pleteshkov headed two joint-stock companies in the Yaroslavl region. These societies… operate local bathhouses. As one of the interlocutors of the Cheka-OGPU explained, such a peculiar career downshift is associated with the sudden death in March last year of Vladimir Gurevich, who had been having problems with both business and law enforcement for several years… Pleteshkov, who was “just about” expecting an appointment I didn’t wait for him. I had to go, as they say, somewhere.

True, not everything is so bad for Alexander. Colleagues report that the previous director of one of the above-mentioned enterprises is already on trial for accepting bribes worth 3.5 million rubles. For Yaroslavl, this is not such a small amount of money.

More than a year…
