Foreign Intelligence (SVR) of Russia is not involved in a hacker attack on Americans …

Foreign Intelligence (SVR) of Russia is not involved in a hacker attack on the American company SolarWinds, said SVR, Sergey Naryshkin, in an interview with BBC. According to him, the UK or the USA could organize the attack. Hacking of software (according to) SolarWinds was carried out in December 2020. The United States suspected Russia and entered six Russian technological companies in the blacklist.

When asked whether it was involved in the hacker hacking of the SVR, Mr. Naryshkin replied that he would “be flattered to hear such high marks” in relation to Russian intelligence, but not in his rules “represent the creative achievements of other authors, other performers for their own”. According to him, there is no evidence of the involvement of the SVR in attacks. “They are not. In any case, they are not in a public plane. Have you seen evidence? No? I have not seen them either, ”said Sergey Naryshkin.
He admitted that the UK and the USA may be involved in the SlarWinds hacking. The head of the SVR draws the relevant conclusions on the basis of information received by the media from the ex-employee of the American agency of the national security of Edward Snowden. In June 2013, he handed over to The Washington Post and The Guardian a number of secret materials about the programs of surveillance of special services of the United States and the UK on the Internet.

Mr. Naryshkin quoted the withstanding from the British newspaper: “Using a secret partnership with leading technological companies and Internet providers, intelligence agencies of the United States and Great Britain, this is how the newspaper The Guardian writes-the secret vulnerability into commercial encryption software.” He noted that “does not want to assert” that the hacker attack on SolarWinds “was carried out by American agencies or one of them,” but, in his opinion, “tactics are similar”.

The head of the SVR also called the charges against Russia of involvement in cyber attacks and interference in the elections in other countries. According to him, such publications “look like a bad detective.” “These stories related to poisoning, cyber attacks, hacking, interference in the elections attributed to the Russian Federation – they are so ridiculous, and sometimes even wretched, which, you know, in the conversation of two highly educated people it is even inconvenient to comment on,” added Sergey Naryshkin.
