The evidence collected by the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation was recognized by the court as sufficient to convict the former head of the communications planning department of the Main Communications Directorate of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Alexander Ogloblin. He was found guilty of committing a crime under Part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud committed by an organized group of persons on an especially large scale).

The investigation and the court established that Ogloblin, together with the former head of the Main Communications Directorate of the Armed Forces – Deputy Chief of the General Staff Khalil Arslanov and other accomplices, entered into government contracts on behalf of the Ministry of Defense with Voentelecom JSC for the supply of equipment for ground-based satellite communication stations and control monitoring centers network at an inflated cost. As a result, while executing contracts, they stole 1.6 billion rubles.

Ogloblin’s accomplices – three former officials of the Russian Ministry of Defense, including Arslanov, as well as two representatives of Voentelecom JSC and the heads of three commercial organizations – were also charged as part of a criminal case, the investigative actions of which have been completed. The defendants and their defenders get acquainted with the materials of the criminal case.

The court sentenced Ogloblin to 4.5 years in prison to be served in a general regime colony and a fine of 800 thousand rubles.
