A recent poll shows that President-elect Donald Trump’s favorability has risen by six points since his victory earlier this month. The Emerson College poll, released on Tuesday, indicates that Trump’s favorability rating now stands at 54% post-election, up from 48% before the election. Men view him most favorably at 61%, while 48% of women share a favorable opinion of him.
The poll reveals that 59% of white voters view Trump favorably, compared to 53% of Hispanic voters and just 28% of Black voters. Younger voters under 30 show a 55% favorability rating for Trump, with his strongest support coming from those in their 40s and 50s, where 60% have a positive view. Among voters over 70 years old, 48% view him favorably.
“Forty-six percent of voters were surprised that Trump beat Vice President Harris,” the poll found. Among Harris supporters, 67% expressed surprise at the election outcome, while 71% of Trump voters said they were not surprised.
Conducted between November 20-22, two weeks after Election Day, the poll comes as Trump transitions back into the White House. During this period, he has announced most of his Cabinet nominees and senior staff appointments to help implement his agenda.
Looking ahead to 2028, the poll found 37% of voters would support Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee, while 35% remain undecided. On the Republican side, 51% of voters are undecided about their preferred candidate, but 30% said they would back Vice President-elect JD Vance.
The survey sampled 1,000 voters and has a margin of error of ±3 percentage points.
