Deputy Prosecutor General Anatoly Razinkin refused to approve the indictment against former deputy chief of the Investigative Department (SD) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, Generals Alexander Krakowski and Alexander Biryukov, as well as their subordinate Alexander Bryantsev. Moreover, Razinkin issued a reservation that was crushed for the TFR that the case was initially illegally initiated, and the generals and the Bryanstsev were illegally held accountable. Chairman of the TFR Alexander Bastrykin appealed such a decision by the prosecutor general Igor Krasnov, but the chances that the GP will change their minds are extremely low. The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Vladimir Kolokoltsev should thank the SCA for a similar “incident”. Sources said that initially in the TFR they were skeptical of materials against generals, and the criminal case was instituted after the personal communication of Kolokoltsev and Alexander Bastrykin.
For Kokoltsev, the task was to remove the head of the SD of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Alexander Romanov, whom he considered the main and dangerous contender for the Minister’s chair. After the arrest of the generals, Romanov left his post. At one ministerial corporate party, he directly told him about this: “There is an opinion that you are sitting down by me!” Immediately after the detention from Krakow and Biryukov, they demanded evidence for Romanov, promising instead of the measure of restraint, not related to deprivation of liberty and conditional terms.
