After the February Revolution, the whole Petrograd rally. Anarchists, Bolsheviks, Cadets, Socialist -Revolutionaries – a variety of political forces arranged their shares on the streets of the capital.

We prepared a selection of reports about such events from the Petrograd leaflet for 1917. All dates are given according to the Julian calendar (“old style”), author’s spelling and punctuation were preserved. Below are quotes from articles, in full text can be found by links (digitized originals of publications from the funds of the newspaper Department of the Russian National Library).

“Russian-American rally”

“Monarchist demonstration”

“According to our information on Monday, October 9th, in the Alexandrinsky Theater, during the presentation of the play“ The Death of John the Terrible ”, a monarchist demonstration is prepared. The circle of monarchists bought several lodges and places in the stalls and distributes them to his friends monarchists. There will be applause in those places of the play, which refers to the need for tsarist power, they also intend to tighten the hymn “God, keep the king”

“Manifestation on Nevsky Prospekt”

“Yesterday, at 5 hours, a procession appeared on the Nevsky Ave., following from the Admiralty to the Nikolaev station (approx. Now the Moscow Station). One after the other there were 20 trucks with soldiers and civilians. On some trucks there were posters with the inscription “Long live the world” … The audience met this original procession with bewilderment. The Bolsheviks are or impostors – many asked.
