Part I
In the summer of 1927, one of the most famous terrorist acts of the 20s was committed in Leningrad. – A group of white emigrants, led by Viktor Larionov, organized an explosion in a party club:
“On June 7, at about 10 p.m., during a meeting of the research institute at the Central Party Club (Moika, house No. 59), an unknown person burst into the room of meetings of historical materialism, which, opening the door, threw one after another one after another Two bombs. Of the abandoned bombs in the room, only one exploded.
The meeting was attended by 35 people of the seminar of historical materialism. The explosion of the explosion made great destruction in the room of the meeting and inflicted 13 comrades, of which 5 were hardly wounded … Attempts by the meeting participants were failed to detain the attackers, since the criminals were firing back, and wounded in the area of the Jampolsky’s abdomen … ”

Three days later, the details of the incident were published:
“That evening (June 7), a meeting of the Marxist circle took place in the club chaired by Comrade Posern. Comrade Shirvindt read a report on Neorealism in America. The meeting was attended by about 40 people, mainly scientists and students.
Soon after the start of the meeting, several men entered. One of the enters waved his hand and threw it in the direction of the table, T. Posern Bomb. There was a deafening explosion. Following this, the second bomb was thrown, which, however, did not explode. The room was filled with suffocating, tearful gas and smoke, which unknown people who ran out of the room took advantage of. They quickly went downstairs and disappeared …
The room in which the meeting took place was badly damaged by the explosion. The chairman’s chair, next to which the first bomb exploded, is distorted. All furniture is turned. The plaster collapsed, the pieces were damaged. From some of the paintings hanging on the walls, only subframes remained. Comrade Posern was wounded in the leg and received damage to the left half of the skin of the head. At the crime scene, the criminals left Macintosh of foreign origin. Macintosh is old from a foreign carpet. The tailor label turned out to be torn.
At the scene of the explosion, a briefcase was discovered in which the third bomb was located. She was obviously taken by criminals in reserve, in case the first bombs did not explode. The portfolio is also clearly foreign origin with English stigma and a special design lock. There are no such portfolios on sale in the USSR. Unexploded bombs, and smoothly collected at the scene of the explosion are transmitted for a special study.
Bombs and fragments confirm the assumption of their foreign origin. This is established with undoubtedness. Bombs in size exceed a large bottle of champagne and have significant destructive power. Bombs are black, each of the 7-9 pounds. The bombs were filled with some kind of tear gas, which after the explosion did not disappear from the room for a long time. Bombs explode with a strong concussion or impact, e.g., when rushing about the floor. The reasons that the second bomb exploded – has not yet been established. There is an assumption of internal damage to the bomb … “
