In more than three centuries of the history of the domestic fleet, many glorious pages are Gangut, Grenmsk, Chesmenskoye, Sinop battles and dozens of other high -profile victories. The battle of Grengam, which took place on July 27 (August 7), 1720, was the last major battalion of the Northern War. In 1721, the Nistadt Peace Treaty was signed, and Russia was proclaimed the empire. Under Grengam, the Russian fleet was commanded by Mikhail Golitsyn. In the victorious relations that was Published August 7 (18) in the newspaper Vedomosti, he wrote:
“… And how they began to rake close to the enemy, then two enemy frigates, turning around for shooting, sat aground, but their gear was interrupted from the shooting. And they, although they carried great shooting, were taken by board. And the rest of the enemy vessels, on one of which Vice Admiral was retreated, which they chased, but were stopped by the weather. However, from the stern of the Vice Admiral ship saw boards beaten off by shooting. And so, with the help of God, a complete Victoria was received over the enemy … “
