Subsequently, it turned out that under the names of Frank Jackson and Jacques Mortan Vandendrash hid Soviet intelligence officer Ramon Merkader:

For the murder of Trotsky, Mercader was sentenced to 20 years in prison. He was released in 1960, returned to Moscow, where he was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.
