“Further events are probably memorable to our readers. The British, not sparing money, entered the fight against Afghanistan, not so much counting on the courage of their army, but on internal turmoil and bribery. It is also known that all the successes of the Anglo-Indian troops, which quickly advanced inside the country, eventually turned out to be equal to zero. The British moved forward with gold, but only their victorious troops passed, the Afghans attacked their rearguard and caused him very serious damage. Shir-Ali, having left his capital, went towards Russia. But he fell ill on the road. From Mazari-Sarif, he sent the embassy to Tashkent with a request for Russian intervention. Our drawing depicts the last, farewell audience of this embassy. The scene takes place in the office of General Kaufman. The latter sits in a chair at the desktop, opposite him four ambassadors, led by Hem-Nab Magomet Assan. It has an English helmet, entwined with a vial. The second ambassador, Ulam-Heyuer Khan, in a national costume, the rest in Colonel’s uniforms.

The translator, standing behind the Afghan ambassadors, translates from the Afghan language to Persian, the translator of General Kaufman, in turn, translates from Persian into Russian.

Since Russia abandoned directly interference in the Anglo-Afghan rebound, according to rumors, Shir-Ali intended his own special emperor to go to the emperor. General Kaufman invited Emir to be in Tashkent, where General Razgov went to the meeting. The disease, however, detained Emir in Mazari-Sharif. His embassy went to Tashkent. The death of Shira-Ali put an end to negotiations ”
