After the February Revolution in Petrograd, it was restless. Every day, newspapers reported murders, robberies, rape. But in 1917, a lot of curious incidents took place in the capital. We prepared a selection of reports about such episodes from the Petrograd leaflet. All dates are given according to the Julian calendar (“old style”). “Beauty Institute”

“The original“ institution ”under the sign of the“ Institute of Beauty ”settled in the square. No. 12, houses No. 23 on Zagorodnoy Prospekt. This apartment was rented by Mrs. Volkova.
On Sunday night, the police department urgently reported that a rod-visitors-officers beat and chop furniture, threaten the lives of other inhabitants at the Institute. “Bomb in the City Duma”

“Yesterday, with unusually speed, a sensational rumor spread that under the building of the City Duma, an unusual force filled with Melinitis or dynamite was discovered. When checking, it turned out that the reason for the spread of such anxious hearing was a very insignificant circumstance, rather a humorous nature.
In the afternoon, a party of weapons intended for the city police was delivered in the Duma premises. Parsing the things brought, the police found a children’s bomb, rather heavy, but not stuffed. One of the policemen jokingly said that the bomb should be lowered into the water.
One of the random visitors heard this phrase and smashed it throughout Petrograd on the phone, but in a completely different lighting. “
