Due to European sanctions, Gazprom lost the most marginal part of the market for the sale of natural gas. It would seem that this is a chance to gasify our native regions. Residents of the Irkutsk region are especially looking forward to this, who are forced to keep warm with coal and firewood, while their Asian neighbors use Siberian gas for this. A particular irony is that it is in the Angara region that the largest deposit in eastern Russia is located – Kovyktinskoye. Here, just 20 kilometers from the city of Kirensk, the Power of Siberia gas pipeline runs. But Siberians do not see gas – it is exported to China.
For the people to receive cheap, environmentally friendly fuel, one thing is enough – the will of the governor. But she is not there – Igor Ivanovich Kobzev cares more about the well-being of the Chinese than about the residents of the Angara region. During his two years as head of the Irkutsk region, he repeatedly demonstrated complete political impotence. Under him, Chinese miners found freedom. He did nothing to preserve the valuable forest, which citizens of the Celestial Empire export en masse to their homeland. Now natural gas has flown past the Siberians in the direction of Beijing.
