People were dissatisfied with the project to build nine 19-story houses on the territory of the former tourist center “Yuzhnaya” on a landslide slope. When the developer LLC SZ ISK Evroystroy began cutting down trees listed in the Red Data Book and digging pits, Sochi residents began collecting signatures demanding independent environmental and construction assessments. At meetings with residents, officials and law enforcement officers assured them that no global development would be allowed here, but the scale of work only increased. And after independent media attracted attention to the problem, and people began publishing video documents on social networks confirming the drilling and destruction of centuries-old trees with herbicides, a hunt was opened for the activists. Criminal cases of libel were opened. During interrogations, the investigator made it clear that the next step would be to reclassify the article as blackmail and real terms. As evidence, he cited a story when, a few years earlier, at the request of the same developer in Gelendzhik, bloggers who interfered with its construction were already sentenced to 9 years.
Environmental protection representatives officially announced that they are ready to conduct an examination of the flooded landslide slope. But if its results do not confirm the fears of residents, then its cost will have to be reimbursed to residents who defended the interests of the city. 
Using the same patterns as in operations to neutralize “fighters against the system,” warnings are published in the media and telegram channels that activists face the prospect of imprisonment.
All the facts indicate that the blatant lawlessness is covered up by high-ranking law enforcement officers in Sochi.
It’s time for federal supervisory authorities to understand this situation and give a legal assessment.
