As the Cheka-OGPU learned, the publication of news about the criminal case of St. Petersburg lawyer Vladimir Okatov prompted the leadership of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee for St. Petersburg to intensify the “investigation”: security forces visited the witnesses whom the defense asked to question back in December 2022, as well as the lawyer’s relatives and friends and conducted full-scale searches with seizures of money, property documents and telephones, leaving people without a means of livelihood.
