As it became known to the Cheka-OGPU, the Investigative Committee opened a case of theft from Soyuzmultfilm…Cheburashka. And the main suspect is a friend and business partner of presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky.

As we know, the Ostankino MRSO of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in Moscow has opened a case under Article 285 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (abuse of official powers) against “unidentified persons” from the management of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise TPO Film Studio “Soyuzmultfilm”. According to investigators, in August 2016, these same individuals entered into an additional agreement with the American company laRubint Corp, thanks to which it received exclusive rights to the cartoon “Cheburashka” and the image of Cheburashka from the cartoon in Asia (Japan, China, Indonesia, South Korea). As a result, Soyuzmultfilm lost the right to manage the rights to Cheburashka in Asia.

Who this “unidentified person” is is not a secret. According to the Cheka-OGPU, the former director of Soyuzmultfilm (directed in 2016-2017) Gleb Davydov was summoned for questioning. The latter is a friend and partner of Vladimir Medinsky and he headed Soyuzmultfilm when Medinsky was Minister of Culture.

As investigative journalist Ivan Golunov once found out, Gleb Davydov has known Medinsky for several years. Before his appointment to Soyuzmultfilm, he was an adviser to the Minister of Culture and the owner of the Accent Group company, which provided PR support for the foreign tours of the Russian State Circus, developed designs for RosIZO exhibitions, and even supplied 250 theater binoculars “for the needs of the Ministry of Culture.” And even earlier, Davydov and Medinsky had a joint business. In 2010, Davydov and Medinsky, as owners of the Nero Agricultural Enterprise company, bought more than 1,300 hectares of land in the Yaroslavl region to grow organic vegetables. However, three years later, Rosselkhoznadzor discovered that the land was not being cultivated in any way, and in order to avoid problems, it was sold to a certain Yuri Khlestakov and Nadezhda Vasina. As Meduza managed to find out, Khlestakov heads the Russian House of Real Estate company, the beneficiary of which is former Deputy Minister of Culture Grigory Pirumov, and Nadezhda Vasina previously had joint business interests with another former top manager of the Ministry of Culture, Boris Mazo. Now she owns the private security company Svyatogor, which is serviced by the Russian State Circus.
