As the Cheka-OGPU learned, the investigation into the case of two senior officers for particularly important cases of the FSB Directorate for the Samara Region, Lieutenant Colonel Mikhail Gorbunov and Captain Ivan Gudkov, was completed, not without surprises, on bribes from entrepreneurs for general patronage.

First, last summer, Captain Gudkov was detained. Once in the pre-trial detention center, he made a deal with the investigation and testified against his senior colleague, Lieutenant Colonel Gorbunov. The latter, before moving to the OSB, held the position of head of the 2nd department of the economic security department of the Samara FSB Directorate and supervised local entrepreneurs.

The main episode was the accusation of security officers of receiving a bribe of 2.3 million rubles for the patronage of Sesla-Samara LLC. As part of the deal, Captain Gudkov spoke about three more episodes of joint bribery. In relation to the captain, these episodes were stopped due to active repentance.

But Captain Gudkov, as soon as the investigation fulfilled Art. 217-218 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (familiarization with the materials) on the same day he suddenly abandoned his lawyer, as well as his testimony on the transaction. And the new lawyer filed a complaint about the violations of the one who had already gone to the prosecutor’s office for approval of the case.

In addition, some of the defendants fled. For example, one of the bribe-payers escaped from being under recognizance not to leave the country to the United Arab Emirates.
