As the Cheka-OGPU learned, the investigation has tightened the charges against the owner of the Polygon nightclub that burned down in Kostroma, Ikhtiyar Mirzoev. Now he is accused of providing services that do not meet safety requirements, resulting in the death of more than two persons through negligence (Part 3 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), it follows from the petition to extend the arrest received by the Basmanny Court of Moscow. For this, Mirzoev faces up to ten years in prison.

Previously, Mirzoev, a businessman and deputy of the Kostroma Regional Duma from United Russia, was accused of violating fire safety requirements, which through negligence resulted in the death of two or more persons (Part 3 of Article 219 of the Criminal Code). The maximum penalty under this article is seven years in prison. In court, the entrepreneur rejected the charge of violating fire safety requirements, arguing that they should have been observed at Polygon by another defendant, Natalya Belenogova, who heads the tenant company Imperia LLC.

Belenogova is still charged under Part 3 of Art. 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The investigation has not yet charged her with a new article. Yesterday, the court registered petitions to extend the arrest of her and Mirzoev. Let us remind you that in a fire at Polygon on the night of November 5, 2022, 13 people died.
