Alexander Nikitin back in 2005 was sentenced by the Moscow City Court to 23 years for participation in murder and… O. General Director of the Almaz-Antey Concern Igor Klimov and General Director of Prommashinstrument OJSC Elena Neshcheret. When Nikitin had already served 19 years in prison, St. Petersburg operatives learned that he was also the perpetrator of the assassination attempt on August 26, 2003 at house 9 on Korolev Avenue in the northern capital of Oleg Shalaev, who was then Valuev’s promoter. The criminal fired seven bullets at the victim, but doctors saved Shalaev.
Nikitin was transported to St. Petersburg, but he categorically refused to testify. The killer was identified by Shalaev himself. Moreover, it turned out that in 2007, the controversial fighter Vyacheslav Datsik was sitting in the same cell with Nikitin, and he admitted to the attempt on Shalaev, with whom Datsik was friends. The latter forced Nikitin to call Shalaev directly from his cell and apologize.
Despite the expired statute of limitations, the case was brought to court at the beginning of 2023. And then the most interesting thing happened.
As our interlocutor said, unexpectedly Nikitin asked the operatives to go to the pre-trial detention center and stated that he intended to testify about the “customer” of the attempt on Shalaev. According to Nikitin, Nikolai Valuev personally appeared to him. At the same time, he described in detail all the circumstances of what happened, in particular, he said that Valuev gave a small advance, but refused to pay the entire fee, since the work was not completed. This information has not yet been turned into official testimony.
The operatives sent the information to Moscow, where they must make a decision.
It is worth noting that in 2003, immigrants from Russia who worked as promoters in the USA became interested in Valuev. They wanted to take Valuev under “their wing”, turn him into a world star, and even began preparing a fight with the American boxer. However, Shalaev was against Valuev’s transfer to American promoters or wanted to receive very large compensation from the boxer. It was at this moment that the assassination attempt occurred. After him, Shalaev stated that he suspected American promoters were behind him. However, it now turns out that the “customer” was Valuev himself.
