As it became known to the Cheka-OGPU, a criminal case was opened against the general director of a large federal contractor LLC MB Engineering from St. Petersburg, Alexey Klimashov, for giving a bribe on an especially large scale (Part 5 of Article 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). He wrote a confession and is cooperating with the investigation. Klimashov has been charged, and new defendants may appear in the criminal case in the near future. The Tverskoy Court of Moscow, at the request of the investigation, placed the businessman under house arrest.

The defense appealed the court’s decision, motivating its position, among other things, by the fact that the preventive measure “prevents the performance of official duties related to the fulfillment of obligations to government customers.” The Moscow City Court, however, upheld the decision of the first instance, slightly changing the conditions of house arrest in terms of telephone conversations.

The MB Engineering company, created in 2015, specializes in the development and implementation of large investment programs; its revenue in 2002 amounted to 1.4 billion rubles. The founder of the LLC is Muscovite Elena Vilchitskaya. One of the last state contracts the company received was the reconstruction of a former hotel building in Sibay (Bashkiria) worth 436.3 million rubles. Also, MB Engineering, as part of the execution of the state defense order, is reconstructing a clinic for keeping laboratory animals at the Research Institute of Hygiene, Occupational Pathology and Human Ecology in the Leningrad Region, and carries out contracts for FMBA structures.
