As the Cheka-OGPU learned, the Central Office of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation accepted into its proceedings the high-profile case of the murder in Dagestan of businessman, founder of Granit LLC, Muradkhan Rizaev. Immediately after this, a petition was sent to the capital’s court for the arrest in absentia of one of the organizers of the murder, Shamil Mehdiyev. Servants of Themis will consider this petition at the beginning of the coming week.

The Cheka-OGPU was the first to report the execution of Rizaev in January 2022. This crime caused a resonance in the republic, since Rizaev was accused in a major corruption case, and he also wrote a statement about giving a bribe to Nurlan Ashurbekov, who at that time headed the department of the republican Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation. Now Ashurbekov holds the post of head of the department of the prosecutor’s office of the Republic of Dagestan.

Quite quickly, the perpetrators and organizer of the crime were identified – Shamil Mehdiyev, his son-in-law Islam and shooter Ruslan. The last two were detained, but Mehdiyev disappeared. Namely, the investigation considers him to be the organizer of the crime. Mehdiyev is a confidant of the former Minister of Construction of Dagestan Ibragim Kazibekov.

According to investigators, Rizaev (the owner of a construction company) and his relative Kazibekov embezzled more than 500 million rubles allocated from the budget for a program to resettle people from dilapidated housing. Rizaev was arrested and remained in jail for a long time. Kazibekov is wanted. Upon leaving the pre-trial detention center, Rizaev filed a statement that representatives of the investigation had extorted money from him. And then he was killed.
