Anton Gerasimov, the son of the former head of the FSB CIB, is being considered for the post of Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for Digital Affairs. Gerasimov’s candidacy was presented by the “shadow minister” of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Daniil Martynov, as he is called in the department. Gerasimov Jr. is a representative of a digital clan created at a time when his father was at the peak of the fight against cyber threats. True, often under the guise of this struggle was meant to protect companies working in the field of cybersecurity. Gerasimov Sr. retired when CIB employee Sergei Mikhailov went to prison for 22 years in a treason case. The person involved in the case of leaking operational-search information to FBI employees was part of the friendly circle of the Gerasimov family. Another connection of the Gerasimovs is the head of Group IB, Ilya Sachkov. His case, also related to treason, is being investigated by the FSB.

Before his resignation, Andrei Gerasimov determined the policy of the entire cybersecurity and Internet commerce industry. After his retirement, the “digital clan” he headed only strengthened its position in the information security market, as he became a key employee of Kaspersky Lab and joined the Board of Trustees of the Safe Internet League.

Gerasimov Jr., under the tacit guidance and support of his high-ranking father, who was still the head of the CIB of the FSB of the Russian Federation, worked in the cybersecurity market, heading the company developing information security tools “Lintechno at MSTU. N.E. Bauman”. Later, Gerasimov Jr. worked in the Government of the Moscow Region for Maksut Shadayev; while he was working in the Moscow government, Gerasimov Jr.’s company “Lintechno” actively participated in projects of the Ministry of Investment and Innovation of the Moscow Region. At the same time, the Government of the Moscow Region, represented by Andrei Borodin, who at that time worked as Shadayev’s first deputy, assured that in his service Anton Gerasimov “complies with the requirements of anti-corruption legislation” and annually submits information about income and property. Although the obvious combination of business and work in public office for Gerasimov Jr. was an additional irritating factor in the dismissal of Gerasimov Sr.

When leaving the Government of the Moscow Region, Shadayev did not invite Gerasimov Jr. either to Rostelecom or to the Ministry of Digital Development, which for some time was a serious irritant for Gerasimov Sr. Today Gerasimov Jr. officially heads: JSC Aykumen IBS (authorized capital 421 million rubles!) and LLC PP Sputnik (authorized capital 10 thousand rubles). Both companies are unprofitable. With revenue of 144 million rubles, Aikumen IBS JSC showed a loss of 65.8 million rubles in 2021 (almost 50%), with revenue of 480 million rubles, the loss of PP Sputnik LLC in 2021 amounted to 157 million rubles ( more than 30% of total revenue)! The main goal of Gerasimov Jr.’s arrival is to improve his financial affairs, especially since the budget of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for IT, communications and digitalization of the department is more than 20 billion rubles.
