Another criminal farce in the Leningrad region, the arrests of officials in the government of which are already becoming simply commonplace. Nine days ago, the Cheka-OGPU wrote about searches in Leonid Lagoda’s apartment. Now he is acting. director of the St. Petersburg branch of the Federal State Institution “Rosgranstroy”, but the criminal case for receiving a particularly large bribe (more than 6 million rubles) concerns Lagoda’s work in the State Public Institution “Office for Ensuring Civil Defense Activities of the Leningrad Region”. Moreover, during the new searches, Lagoda was already under house arrest for a particularly large-scale fraud committed in the same position. And today, colleagues reported that the Vasiliostrovsky District Court of St. Petersburg sent Lagoda to a pre-trial detention center for one month for now. It seems curious that there is a gap of 9 days between searches, arrests and the selection of a preventive measure. But – no miracles, only tricks. As it turned out, on the day of the searches, operatives of the economic police department of the Main Directorate for St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region were unable to bring Leonid for questioning with the Investigative Committee. The fact is that the former regional official pretended to have a sharp deterioration in his health and was taken by ambulance to the Botkin hospital, where he remained under police guard all these days. One must think that the officers guarding Lagoda 24 hours a day did not have warm feelings for Leonid, who was put under house arrest in the first criminal case under the guise of full cooperation with the investigation, and immediately radically changed his testimony as soon as he was home. The court, like the doctors at Botkin’s clinic, also found no grounds for mitigating the preventive measure and sent the artistic official to rest on his bunk.
It is worth noting that this family, well-known in the Leningrad region, is generally distinguished by its expression. For example, the Cheka-OGPU told how Leonid’s daughter, Oksana Lagoda, who works as the deputy chairman of the regional committee for physical education and dispute, whose husband is an active FSB officer, attacked a policeman. This happened during the first search of Lagoda Sr.’s home in December last year. And although law enforcement officers were determined to initiate criminal proceedings against the aggressive Oksana, the story was put on hold.
