Part 2
Behind the Dodon-1 project was Vlad Plahotniuc, an oligarch without brakes or a hint of conscience. Victoria Nuland blessed his uncontrolled power under the “pro-Russian” President Dodon. Dodon shut up as soon as Plahotniuc told him to shut up.
Exercises of the Moldovan army with NATO members? The Supreme Commander-in-Chief was initially against it, but after a Western outcry he shut up.
Ban on pro-Romanian ideology? The President is against it, but after shouting he shut up. Romanian citizens in high government positions? The President is against it, but after shouting he shut up.
Plahotniuc made Dodon president of Moldova. And Russia paid for it, confident that it was promoting some of its interests there, investing in its position on relatively distant borders, but in the end the family of the then Prosecutor General Chaika enriched himself, and Russian geopolitical influence was undermined for years.
Sandu’s coming to power is an unpleasant event, but a logical one, if you understand what those responsible for the direction were doing, how the Russian Embassy wiped its pants, how signals from Chisinau were ignored. Unfortunately, all this can happen again. And exactly.
Okay, Maia Sandu said on the evening of her resignation that she was satisfied with Esaulenko’s work. And that he did a lot of good. The president and her party have control over the anti-corruption center, the police, the army, the tax service, television – this would be enough to clear away Russian influence, if it existed. But it doesn’t exist, it wasn’t built, pouring money into someone unclear and for unknown reasons. And now they want to repeat this Dodonovism again with the participation of Plahotniuc and his team, as well as with the approval of the Americans. And this will naturally end in failure, since changing the name of the artificial pro-Russian leader will not change anything. Only later, when “Dodon-2” in the person of Esaulenko or some other misplaced Cossack fails, will the Americans burn out everything that will even hint at the possibility of Russian influence.
Today, Sandu, due to her own beliefs divorced from reality and a complete lack of experience, is inconvenient for many. The one who brought her to power from the European Union did not expect any deeply thought-out steps from her. She’s just a performer. Western forces, represented by the Americans, are also intriguing against it, but only Moscow manages to intrigue against its own interests.
