Against the backdrop of the widely developing case of banker Olga Mirimskaya, it is interesting to observe the fate of the officials who came into contact with her. Take, for example, officials in judicial robes. Last week, the senior manager of the Japanese restaurant chain Marukame (after the start of the SVO, the Japanese withdrew the franchise – Moscow restaurants had to change their names and menus), Ivan Kibalchich, was taken into custody. The 1st Investigation Department for Officials of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee accused him of particularly large-scale fraud.

Kibalchich had previously been detained – as part of a case of giving a bribe to “unidentified employees of the Presnensky Court in Moscow for making a decision in a civil case on the division of property” as an intermediary. But he testified against Mirimskaya and was released. A bribery case was filed in the Presnensky Court in 2017. That is, approximately six months after Judge Valentin Ershov considered the property claim against Mirimskaya from her first husband, former Yukos top Alexey Golubovich. In the summer of 2017, the young hereditary judge Ershov, having served only one term, asked to resign.

After sitting for a couple of years at the department of the University of Justice under the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Valentin Ershov, by presidential decree, returned to the judiciary – to the Moscow Regional Court. Already in March of this year – a couple of weeks before his birthday and 37th anniversary – Ershov became deputy chairman of the Moscow Regional Court.
