After the publication of the Cheka-OGPU about the harassment of a young woman, a single mother with a disabled child, Dzhamila Sivaeva, who serves as a senior inspector at the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Vasileostrovsky district of St. Petersburg, the police leadership took decisive measures! If you think that the department has launched an official investigation into how Sivaeva’s boss, Alexander Istomov, committed illegal actions, taking advantage of his position, harassed and humiliated his subordinate, then you don’t know the St. Petersburg police very well. As our interlocutor at the police headquarters said, a warning was sent to all heads of departments of the Vasileostrovsky Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs with the following theses: “taking into account the current situation, in connection with the events of yesterday evening… I remind you and your personnel to comply with the order of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on the inadmissibility of any communication with media representatives! I also warn you about disciplinary liability in case of violations and dissemination of any information! I also draw attention to the possible appearance of reporters in the departments and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Therefore, pay special attention to access control! In all cases, report immediately!!!”

That’s right – instead of understanding how the department, whose functions include maintaining law and order and suppressing crimes, commits actions qualified by the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, the police authorities decided to provide protection from journalists. That is, now all police officers must understand that if within the law enforcement structure they are tormented, humiliated, or even tortured, they just need to remain silent, grit their teeth and run away from journalists.
It is obvious that the crisis with personnel in the Ministry of Internal Affairs will not subside after such events. If even the police cannot protect themselves from arbitrariness, then what can we say about protecting ordinary citizens? And so, as usual, even employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs ultimately have to rely only on the attention of the head of the RF Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, who regularly takes personal control of cases of unpunished abuse of power by officials of all ranks.
