A source from the Cheka-OGPU told how the current personnel of the presidential administration behave when they “go out to the people.” On the evening of November 29, Moscow police had to separate two fighting men on the platform of the Ploshchad Revolyutsii metro station. One of them was clearly younger than his opponent, as it later turned out, by as much as 18 years. When they managed to separate the grappling fighters, they began to find out the causes of the conflict. The young man was the first to demand a pen and paper – he immediately began to write a statement against the offender, so that he would be brought to justice for beating an employee of the presidential administration. As it turned out, the “victim” of the brawl was 36-year-old Ilya Vladimirovich Ponomarev, the namesake of the ex-State Duma deputy. Previously, he worked in the Ministry of Industry and Trade, after which he moved to the AP; he managed to find a good job thanks, in part, to his father, a former military man and lawyer.

However, law enforcement officers were in no hurry to take the word of the richly dressed young man – 53-year-old Anatoly Litvinenko still had blood on his face. According to the “offender of the administration employee,” during rush hour, when he was boarding the train, he tried to push into the carriage, but his way was blocked at the door. After the remark, the unknown person hit him in the face with all his might and broke his lips – the man did not want to forgive the “bull”. As a result, no one was able to leave the station and both ended up in police custody. One can only imagine what would happen if all AP employees traveled by public transport.
