A source from the Cheka-OGPU told details about the internal problems with electronic voting in Moscow. It turned out that the DEG system was brought down by state employees. As we wrote earlier, the order from the authorities to “vote for everyone and bring three friends or be fired” was conveyed especially clearly to municipal employees. They were even allocated a specific time slot – from 8.00 to 10.00 Friday, September 8th. Obviously, the curators did not think that if almost simultaneously everyone rushed to the site and started clicking on the window of the specified candidate, the system would fail. And so it happened – electronic suicide led the program to disaster: a budget DDoS attack thwarted plans to ensure maximum turnout in the first hours of voting and mixed up all the electronic “boxes” and “ballots”.
Those responsible for DEG in Moscow had to urgently solve the problem. It is interesting that the platform’s capacity had to be restored not at the expense of the reserves of the State Automated System “Elections”, which in principle controls the entire software voting process, but thanks to the servers of the Ministry of Economic Development, various departments, Moscow and federal government structures, which, in fact, do not belong to the Electoral Commission in any way way. This also did not go unnoticed: employees of companies whose resources, according to the decision of the capital’s Kulibin programmers, were secretly used for voting, until today could not work with their archives – the databases went down, reports and documentation stopped opening.
