The policeman was identified by chance – correspondence with him was found in the phone of Kulyazhev’s ex-wife, who is now accused of extortion. Together with an accomplice – an ex-tax official – the woman blackmailed the Kazan top official with a folder with compromising evidence, allegedly, she managed to identify Kulyazhev’s secret apartments, yachts and cars, which were not listed in the declaration. The extortionists demanded 20 million rubles for silence; as a result, the deputy head of the executive committee decided not to risk it and complained about his ex to the police. After the arrest and searches, in the woman’s phone they found information about Kulyazhev’s border crossings and air travel, noted in the closed “Rozysk-Magistral” database. This is how we managed to contact the operative of the criminal investigation department of the linear department of the Kazan airport, Rafael Khafizov. Already during the CSS audit, it became clear that the employee had been collecting data on the movements of various people for almost a year and a half. Using his account alone, Khafizov unreasonably scanned almost 200 people, among them Igor Kulyazhev.
It is interesting that Major Khafizov was repeatedly brought to disciplinary liability during his 15 years of service. The issue of initiating a criminal case under the article of disclosure of personal data is being decided. The man has already been dismissed from the authorities.
