A source from the Cheka-OGPU reported on an unscheduled general inspection of police convoys in the Kemerovo region, which began after a prisoner escaped from the Novokuznetsk temporary detention facility. The head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Kemerovo Region-Kuzbass, Major General Gennady Kornienko, was very surprised to learn how relaxed the guards on his estate were.

According to the source, the whole mess began with the Priora stop in Novokuznetsk. Drunk local resident Alexander Demchuk was driving. For driving while drunk, the offender was given a 10-day arrest. Two lieutenants had to deliver Demchuk from the court to the detention center – the district police officer Pushkarev and the operational duty officer Tsurankov. “Tired,” at the end of the working day, the guards and the prisoner went to the detention center. But it was not possible to hand over the prisoner right away – leaving the car at the checkpoint, the police went about their business as if nothing had happened. Meanwhile, the already sober Demchuk spat on the decision of the judge and lieutenants and moved into the city away from the detention center.

The fugitive was already detained by the detectives from the criminal investigation department – they still put him in jail for a day and are now deciding what else to punish him for his escape. But the fate of the escorts is more interesting: the worst thing is not the official check against Alexei Pushkarev and Georgy Tsurkanov, but the fact that the entire internal service personnel involved in the delivery of violators and prisoners fell under the hot hand of General Kornienko.
