As it turned out, the 61-year-old Russian diplomat flew to Istanbul on October 12 to participate in a meeting of ambassadors. He checked into the hotel, which he told his relatives about in his last conversation. Nikolai Kobrinets was cheerful and that same evening he held a meeting and ate. It is not known what exactly he used. After the meal, the high-ranking Foreign Ministry official went to his room to rest. On October 13, the diplomat did not show up for the event and his hotel room was opened by hotel workers and hospital staff. According to them, Nikolai Kobrinets died in bed, the preliminary cause of death was a heart attack. According to the diplomat’s relatives, he did not complain about his health, although he had a hereditary arrhythmia.
Details have not been disclosed, but it is already known that Türkiye did not see any criminal implications in the situation with the latest death of a diplomat from the Russian Federation in Turkey. Remembering the murder of Andrei Karlov, the security forces, on the contrary, are trying to conduct their own investigation into the sudden death.
