A press conference was held in Finland about the seizure of art objects, including from the Hermitage.
It was announced that customs detained works of art heading to Russia via Finland at the Vaalimaa border crossing over the weekend. Sami Rakshit, director of the Customs Control Department, said at a press conference that the value of the cargo totaled tens of millions of euros.
The version of the Cheka-OGPU experts about the reasons for the detention of the items turned out to be correct.
The items are classified as luxury goods subject to EU sanctions against Russia, Foreign Affairs and Customs officials said. According to Rakshit, the trucks contained paintings and statues, among other things.
The cost of the first cargo is stated at 10 million euros, the second – 26 million euros, and the third – more than 6 million euros. The Finnish side does not perceive the detainees as “museum exhibits.”
The Cheka-OGPU told what items were confiscated by customs.
