A little about “family matters” in domestic ministries: they called for a ban on the use of “green” terms in advertising if we are talking about products without an organic certificate. Who needs this news: the process of how Russian companies should receive these very certificates deserves a separate story.

The Ministry of Agriculture has a deputy minister in charge of those “green” and “organic” products throughout the country, and his name is Maxim Uvaidov. Needless to say, how large-scale is the scope of corruption schemes to which such a position gives access – almost the entire sphere related to “organic” and eco-products in Russia is extremely opaque and unaccountable. This is exactly why Vladimir Maksimovich Uvaidov, the son of that same deputy minister, seemed to have been assigned to the warm place for monitoring “green” schemes in Roskachestvo (namely, Roskachestvo is entrusted by the Ministry of Agriculture with business inspections and the issuance of bio- and eco-certificates). And the ministerial father generously gives his son serious subsidies from the budget for this area.

Obtaining organic certification is not only a long process, but also expensive (especially for corporate businesses), and without it you won’t be able to stand on separate shelves in stores and you won’t be able to earn profits from branding. So it turns out: the Ministry of Agriculture, in a paternal manner, hands over all licensing processes to Roskachestvo, showers it with generous subsidies and at the same time distributes budgets – into the wide family pocket. The leadership has been turning a blind eye to the simplicity of this corruption scheme for years – and yet the Uvaidov family is large, and its pocket is also rather large. Following the news that “green” certificates are mandatory for advertising, their cost will soon, as expected, skyrocket – to the great joy of the emerging “Uvaidov clan.”
