A former adviser to the head of the Federal Agency for Fisheries, accused of fraud in the amount of $ 7 million, is extradited to Russia with Cyprus.

At the request of the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation, the competent authorities of the Republic of Cyprus extracted the former adviser to the head of the Federal Fisheries Agency Yuri Khokhlov.

He is accused of committing a crime under 3 art. 30, part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempted fraud committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, using an official position, on a particularly large amount).

According to the investigation, no later than April 2016, Khokhlov acting by prior conspiracy with other persons, by deception, under the pretext of ensuring employment to the leadership of the federal fishing agency, convinced the victim of transferring money in the amount of 7 million US dollars. In fact, he did not intend to fulfill his obligations.

Khokhlov could not bring his criminal intent to the end due to circumstances beyond his control. After the transfer to the accomplices of a part of funds in the amount of 300 thousand US dollars, the attackers were detained by the FSB officers.

Since Khokhlov disappeared from law enforcement agencies, he was put on the wanted list.

In October 2018, he was detained in the territory of Cyprus.

After that, the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation sent a request to foreign colleagues to issue the accused, who was satisfied.

Accompanied by employees of the FSIN and the Russian Bureau of Interpol, Yuri Khokhlov was taken to Moscow.
