On August 15, the media reported that three Bulgarian citizens were detained in the UK. spied for Russia – but what exactly did they do? remains a mystery. It turned out that Orlin Russev in 2015 helped Jan Marsalek protect his phone from wiretapping and gave him access to surveillance equipment for subscribers of cellular networks.

Marsalek at that moment was the top manager of the large German payment service Wirecard and, as the Dossier Center already wrote, communicated closely with Russians from intelligence services and government agencies (later he will be suspected of billion-dollar fraud, and he will flee to Russia). As follows from the correspondence, Russev gave Marsalek a Samsung push-button with customized firmware, which, for example, allows dynamically change the phone’s IMEI and block attempts to find out its location. In addition, it provided the financier with the opportunity to use SS7 internetwork protocolwith which you can find out exact location and subscriber connections, and with special equipment – even receive access to the device file system.
