The Higher Qualification Board of Judges rejected Sergei Rakov, judge of the 3rd Balakhninsky judicial district of the Nizhny Novgorod region, and did not sign recommendations for his further appointment to the position of district judge. This decision came as a surprise not only to Sergei Sergeevich, but also to those who “bet” on his candidacy.
It would seem that justice has triumphed, but the question remains: how did a person with such a controversial past and dubious reputation previously occupy the post of justice of the peace. A year earlier, the VKKS, headed by Olga Pogorelko, turned a blind eye to this and gave (and possibly for a fee) the position to Rakov. The chairman of the Nizhny Novgorod regional court, Vyacheslav Popravko, pretended not to notice the nuance.
The image of the judiciary in Nizhny Novgorod has long left much to be desired. More recently, the Cheka has already talked about representatives of the regional femida with illegal weapons in their hands.
