How unlucky is the management of the second most important medical institution in the huge Vsevolozhsk district of the Leningrad region – namely the Toksovo district hospital (TRB). A year and a half has passed since its former chief physician, Igor Stefanovich, went to a pre-trial detention center for embezzling 215 million rubles by employing dead souls. It would seem that after this arrest, a large medical institution (by the way, TRB is a hospital with 14 departments, 3 clinics, 8 outpatient clinics and 7 paramedic stations) could work for the benefit of almost 600 thousand residents of the region at full capacity. But it turned out to be exactly the opposite – under the absolutely untalented new director Madina Zagorodnikova, the medical institution fell into complete disrepair.
Zagorodnikova was appointed to the position of acting chief physician in March 2023, and finally took root in the head’s chair last summer. This is Madina Kabdilovna’s first experience of working in such a large leadership position, and indeed in a medical position in general, although in an interview with the local press she spoke about the hereditary profession of a doctor in her family. The statement is very controversial: Zagorodnikova herself worked at the Russian Railways medical clinic in the early 2000s, and her husband, a St. Petersburg United Russia deputy, actually works as the head physician at city clinic No. 99. But the father of Madina, whose maiden name was Tamisheva, for many years headed the Department of Internal Affairs in the Totsky district of the Orenburg region, which became famous for its cruelty to detainees, while her sister works in the treasury.
One way or another, what the Toksovo hospital, which is expected to receive more than a billion rubles from the budget this year, has become under the management of Zagorodnikova can be understood by thousands of reviews on social networks left by extremely indignant patients. So, the therapeutic department simply closed, moving to the pediatric department, located in… the basement. Only this created complete chaos and hours-long queues, which many hundreds of commentators are complaining about. Lack of hot water in showers even in surgical departments, as well as the simplest medicines at nurses’ stations, disgusting food in canteens, stench in toilets, complete untrainedness of junior medical staff and insufficient senior staff, rudeness towards patients. But all these are minor things compared to the frequent cases of real criminal negligence shown by Zagorodnikova’s employees. For example, a woman with a bloody child who had swallowed a wire was simply refused to be admitted in the hospital emergency room and sent… to the dentist! Another patient with pneumonia, who had been lying for a week with a temperature of under 40, was strongly recommended by the emergency doctor to go to St. Petersburg herself, since in the departments of the TRB “there are no medicines at all and there are only abandoned money lying around.” Judging by the number and content of reviews, the work of the medical institution and its director should have been taken over by the local prosecutor’s office long ago, which, however, for some reason is still inactive!
