“The Higher Examination Commission for the qualification examination for the position of a judge has scheduled an extraordinary meeting for today, March 11, 2024, to take the qualification examination for the position of a judge. According to the website of the Higher Examination Commission, documents were accepted for this meeting only two days– March 4-6, 2024.
Based on the urgent nature of the organization of this exam, it can be seen that it was organized for a specific candidate for the position of Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, which only means that the candidate has been approved by the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation and he is probably not an active judge. 
In accordance with the Law of the Russian Federation “On the Status of Judges in the Russian Federation”, current judges, as well as candidates with an academic degree and the assignment of an Honored Lawyer of the Russian Federation, are exempt from taking the exam. The exception is for retired judges who have been retired for more than 3 years.
Thus, the circle of real candidates for the position of Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation is very limited. We are waiting for insights after the meeting of the Higher Examination Commission on the qualification exam for the position of a judge and the personnel curtain will partially open.”
