Our channel continues to monitor how the former deputy chairman of the Supreme Court of Tatarstan Maxim Belyaev does not give up hope of taking the vacant position of the head of the highest court of the republic. Belyaev himself claims that his appointment is supported by the future head of the Supreme Court. General Director of the Judicial Department Alexander Gusev was also seen lobbying for his candidacy.

Let us recall that the Higher Qualification Board of Judges of the Russian Federation rejected Belyaev for the first time last year. When checking Belyaev, a number of compromising factors were discovered. Questionable receipts on cards, inflated income from creative activities, the acquisition of an expensive car by the wife. Belyaev also did not comply with the requirements of the legislation of the Russian Federation on military duty and military service.

The most serious charge against Belyaev is a violation of anti-corruption legislation and suspicion of connections with an organized crime group. Belyaev, who worked all his life in Tatarstan, has firmly established acquaintances, usually unselfish, with local elites. Among its sponsors are State Duma deputy Irek Boguslavsky and State Council deputy Dmitry Samarenkin.

Despite the first unsuccessful attempt, Belyaev still hopes to take the coveted post at the second competition with the support of his sponsors. As Belyaev himself claims, the change of the chairman of the Supreme Court benefits him. Allegedly, he himself and his patrons from the elite of Tatarstan are well acquainted with the future leader and can resolve any issues.

The General Director of the Judicial Department under the RF Armed Forces, Alexander Gusev, also actively intervenes in the conduct of the competition. Moreover, by his actions he clearly goes beyond the scope of his powers. It should be noted that the media have repeatedly published revealing articles on corruption schemes of Gusev himself so it is safe to assume that he is driven by a very specific financial interest.

Whether Belyaev’s sponsors have enough administrative and financial resources to achieve his appointment will become known in the near future. In the meantime, the judicial system of Tatarstan has been without a leader for about a year.

In Tatarstan, the discussion continues on the prospects of Maxim Belyaev for the post of Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic

The public is interested in how Maxim Belyaev, with experience as a judge since 2006, can occupy the most important post in the region, which has been empty since May last year.
