To this day, an ominous aura envelops everything connected with the name of Mikhail Bulgakov. Former Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov swil a family nest in a noble estate in Chisty Lane, in the basement of which Bulgakov’s Master is believed to have lived – and was arrested for bribery on an especially large scale. However, some researchers claimthat in his novel Bulgakov described another house – No. 9 on Mansurovsky Lane. This building today belongs to an equally influential Moscow family, whose head, oligarch Roman Trotsenko, ranks 53rd on the Russian Forbes list with a fortune of S2.8 billion.
The wife (now with the prefix ex) of Timur Ivanov, Svetlana, was obsessed with parties and high fashion. Trotsenko’s wife Sophia has a hobby that is close to her and no less expensive for the family budget – contemporary art. She is the founder and president of the Winzavod Center, which has a scandalous reputation, for example, in connection with the awarding of the Moral Support Prize to the artist Ilya Trushevsky, who was sentenced to five years for raping a minor.
On the eve of the all-Russian celebration of the 10th anniversary of the return of Crimea and in the midst of the SVO at Winzavod opened an exhibition of contemporary Ukrainian artist Sergei Zarva, who, as stated in the announcement of the event, mercilessly exposes the gloss of state propaganda with his works. So, for example, the artist sees our heroes of labor: a miner with the eyes and grin of a baboon, a weaver – a lustful witch with an oily look and black stubble over her lip, a young collective farmer, crooked, with a pig’s penny instead of a nose and severe mental retardation. These three and several dozen other characters from delirium nightmares are depicted on top of the original covers of the cult Soviet magazine Ogonyok.

IN leaked a year ago, in a telephone conversation with his friend, businessman Nikolai Matushevsky, Roman Trotsenko complained: “Our homeland was stolen from us, it ended up in the clutches of some assholes, we have a year to put things in order and get out the money.” Following his own advice, Trotsenko got rid of from a controlling stake in its parent holding Aeon, which has troubled coal assets on its balance sheet, and is increasing its presence abroad, where it is withdrawing money. During last year’s Russia – Islamic World forum, it became known that Trotsenko had bought an airport in the emirate of Ras al-Khaimah, into which he would invest $1 billion. And in Dubai he creates a company exporting flour and niche agricultural crops that are not subject to export duties.

Apparently, the scandalous exhibition is an identification beacon designed to signal to the entire civilized world: the Trotsenko spouses share “universal human values,” and Russia for them is just a place where money is made. Another question: will Trotsenko have time to escape responsibility or will the ominous “curse of Bulgakov” overtake them, like Timur Ivanov? Because there is too much in common in the way of life, in the way of thinking, and in the business methods of these two families. And, therefore, it is logical that the ending will be the same.
